FAITH IN ACTION
At Signal Crest, we intentionally support five community partners throughout the year. There's an opportunity to serve everyone.
Our children’s ministry (birth – 5th grade) is built on the truth modeled by Jesus in Matthew 19:14: Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
The Bethlehem Center (The Beth)
Inspired by the gospel, the Bethlehem Center builds lasting relationships with Chattanooga's youth and families by encouraging spiritual growth, education, and leadership development. A ministry of the United Methodist Church, "The Beth" desires to see the Alton Park community connected, empowered, and living life more abundantly. Our congregation serves by volunteering in their food pantry and community garden, and by keeping the pantry stocked with meat, hygiene kits, feminine hygiene kits, and diapers.
The Chambliss Center for Children
The Chambliss Center enriches the lives of children, youth, and families through transformative programs and support services, including 24/7 daycare, foster care, and transitional living. We support Chambliss through monthly faculty/staff appreciation breakfasts and quarterly workdays, and our Summer Camp staff recently led a camp for Chambliss students.
Howard School
Howard High School is one of the largest public schools in Hamilton County. It is located on the south side of Chattanooga. We're grateful to partner with Howard's students and faculty by providing a weekly meal to student athletes, supporting sports teams, sponsoring teacher appreciation events, and collecting dorm and school supplies for college-bound students.
Mustard Tree Ministries
Mustard Tree serves the unhoused population in Chattanooga. Every second Sunday, Signal Crest prepares and serves a free meal for the congregation at "Breakthrough Worship," led by the pastoral staff at First Centenary UMC. We also regularly provide laundry pods for their mobile food pantry.
Signal Mountain Social Services (SMSS) & the Firewood Ministry
We support Signal Mountain Social Services primarily through our Firewood Ministry, as well as emergency home repairs for some of their clients and fruit for their Christmas collection. The Firewood Ministry began in 2012 when, in collaboration with SMSS, we identified families in greatest need of help heating their homes — families who heat with wood-burning stoves and have no other heat source. Each year, Signal Crest supplies firewood to 8–10 families, building meaningful relationships and discovering additional needs along the way. We host workdays at the church to split firewood and are always looking for help delivering it. Workdays are usually on the 3rd Sunday afternoons of each month from 1:30–4:30 PM throughout the school year.
Community Outreach Events
MLK Jr. Days of Service — Each January, Signal Crest puts faith into action for the Martin Luther King Jr. Days of Service. In 2026 (January 18–19), our congregation worshipped together around Dr. King's call to seek justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with God, then assembled birthday bags, hygiene kits, and teacher appreciation gifts before partnering with the Bethlehem Center, Chambliss Center, and Howard School for a full day of hands-on service. We're looking forward to growing this event in the years ahead.
