Signal Crest Preschool

Signal Crest Preschool strives to provide the stepping stones for a lifetime of learning.

Our School

Signal Crest Preschool was established in 1962 as a ministry of Signal Crest UMC.  Signal Crest Preschool is licensed by the State of Tennessee and has consistently earned the highest three star rating from the state based on the Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale. We serve children ages 2, 3, 4, and 5.

We aim to provide a loving and safe environment and to help our children grow and develop socially, emotionally, and spiritually.  Our program has been carefully planned to challenge the children and encourage them to develop their own talents and abilities.

Our Goal

At SCPS, our goal is to develop self-esteem and self-confidence in our children and to help them grow socially, emotionally, and spiritually.  We want to help them develop their own unique talents and abilities and guide them according to their own readiness.  We recognize the importance of children learning through play and offer a balanced program of teacher led and free choice activities.

Our Preschool Day

Each day brings opportunities for our children to play, investigate, and express their ideas as they discover the joy and excitement of learning math, science, literature, language, music and art.  In a warm, caring environment, children will participate in activities that help develop their physical, intellectual, and social skills.

Social skills are developed through role playing in the dramatic play center, learning to take turns, making friends, and participation in chapel through values-based Bible stories.

Independence and responsibility are encouraged as children learn the classroom routines - putting away belongings, leading the class, reporting weather, delivering mail, and other class jobs.

The day includes some teacher-led activities, whole group and small group activities and some individual explorations.
